Another day, another cracker of a game in IPL 2020. After regulated 40 overs failed to separate both the sides, Mumbai Indians went down in the Super Over. Speaking at the end of the game, skipper Rohit Sharma credited his players to make a stunning comeback from nowhere and said that there are a lot of positives to take back.

The second Super Over of the match saw AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli hold their nerves to drive their side home. Batting first, Mumbai managed seven runs but it was not enough to contain Bangalore. De Villiers struck a vital boundary in the fourth ball to guide RCB to their second win.

With a mammoth total on shoulders, Mumbai Indians failed to match up to the expectations. Quinton de Kock’s poor run with the bat continues while skipper Rohit Sharma had a rare off-day in business. Ishan Kishan, who came in place of injured Saurabh Tiwary was on the only brightening star, in otherwise a dull performance from the defending champions until the 15th over.

Kieron Pollard almost did a Rahul Tewatia along with Ishan Kishan but couldn’t take the side home as Kishan got out in the penultimate ball of the match. Pollard struck a boundary to level the score aided some fielding errors from the Bangalore side.

Batting first, Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch set the tone for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Finch, in particular, looked to attack the bowlers and brought his first fifty of the season. They added 81 runs from nine overs before Finch departed.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat continued but AB de Villiers covered it up with a brilliant knock. The 20-year-old Padikkal complimented well with another fifty – his second of the season. But de Villiers stole the show wit 55 off just 24 balls including four boundaries and sixes each.

All-rounder Shivam Dube also played a little cameo of 27 runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 201 runs. It proved to be enough for Bangalore to seal their second tie of IPL 2020. Speaking at the end of the game, Rohit Sharma credited his teammates for a spectacular comeback.

“It was a great game of cricket. We were not in the game at all when we started off with the bat. Great innings by Ishan there and then Pollard was brilliant as usual for us. We came back really well and a lot of positives to take away from this game,” Rohit said at the end of the game.

Furthermore, Rohit Sharma added that they have the firepower in their tank to chase down a target of 200 runs. However, a poor start and a couple of wickets early on didn’t help their cause.

“It is just that we couldn’t start well, I thought we could chase 200 with the batting power we have. We didn’t get the momentum in the first 6-7 overs and also lost three wickets. With Polly being there anything can happen, Ishan was also hitting it well so we had the belief that we would get there,” he added.
