Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Saturday revealed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The former cricketer took to Twitter to reveal the news with the world. With the news doing round, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has reacted to the same wishing Shahid Afridi speedy recovery.
Gambhir and Afridi have been at loggerheads both on and off the cricket field. They have often exchanged verbal volleys on social media over Kashmir and politics. Both of them had sharp criticisms of each other.

Recently, as soon as the news of Afridi testing COVID-19 went viral, many former cricketers have wished him for his recovery. Gautam Gambhir also joined the bandwagon is wishing Shahid Afridi a speedy recovery. The cricketer-turned-politician also reiterated the fact that even though he has political differences with the 40-year-old, he wants the latter to recover soon.
“Nobody should be infected with this virus. I have political differences with Shahid Afridi but I want him to recover as soon as possible. But more than Afridi I want every person infected in my country to get well as soon as possible,” he said while speaking at Salaam Cricket 2020.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to reveal the news. Afridi, who represented Pakistan in 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), took to Twitter to break the news, saying that he had been feeling unwell since Thursday. He underwent the test which came positive.
“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery,” Afridi wrote.
