“We Know How It Feels To Lose”- Harmanpreet Kaur’s Emotional Rallying Cry Before World Cup Final

On the eve of the Women’s World Cup final, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her team’s readiness to turn past heartbreaks into triumph. India will take on South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium, with both sides eyeing their maiden World Cup title. Reflecting on her team’s journey, Harmanpreet acknowledged the struggles India had faced in previous global events but emphasised that the experience had only strengthened their resolve.

“We know how it feels to lose. But we are looking forward to how it feels to win. Hopefully, tomorrow is a special day for us; we have done a lot of hard work, and it’s only about getting everything done. Tomorrow for the team,” she said. The captain added that maintaining joy and positivity had always brought the team success, noting, “We have been talking about that whenever we have enjoyed and given our best, we always get positive results.”

Pride And Preparation For A Defining Moment

For India, this final marks their third appearance in a Women’s ODI World Cup final. The team previously lost to Australia in 1998 by 98 runs and to England in 2017 by a narrow nine-run margin. They also fell short in the Commonwealth Games gold medal match against Australia in 2022. Harmanpreet said this history adds depth to their motivation to win this time around.

“It’s a proud moment for me and the entire team, and I’m sure the entire country must also be very proud of the way we have played the last two games,” she stated. The Indian skipper highlighted the unity and spirit within the squad, adding that every player is determined to give their all on the big stage. “When you are at a stage like a World Cup final, there cannot be any bigger motivation. The team is charged up, players are supporting each other, and that shows they are together and how ready we are for this match.”

A New Era In Women’s Cricket

Harmanpreet Kaur also spoke about the excitement of having a new world champion in women’s cricket. With Australia, England, and New Zealand being the only teams to have lifted the trophy before, the 2025 final guarantees a fresh addition to the list. “It’s good that there are two different teams. We have seen Australia dominating world cricket for so many years, and England was also on that stage. The excitement is different,” she said. As the Indian team steps onto the field, the nation hopes their years of persistence, heartbreak, and determination will finally culminate in a historic victory.
