There is no denying to the fact that Sachin Tendulkar had best of his time with Sourav Ganguly in the middle. The duo added 8227 runs in 176 partnerships, which is more compared to any other pair in the world cricket. In fact, no other pair in the world cricket has scored not even 6000 runs over the years.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday reminded the fans about the great Indian duo of Tendulkar and Ganguly with the above statistics on their official Twitter handle. “No other pair has crossed even 6,000 runs together in ODIs,” the tweet read.

Another 4000: Sourav Ganguly to Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, who took note of the tweet, tagged Sourav Ganguly and remembered all the memories he had with him while playing together. Further, the flamboyant batsman asked the former skipper to guess how many more runs they would have added with two new balls and new rules in place for 50-over cricket.

Sachin tweeted “This brings back wonderful memories Dadi. How many more do you think we would’ve been able to score with the restriction of 4 fielders outside the ring and 2 new balls? @SGanguly99 @ICC”

In reply, Sourav Ganguly felt that they could have scored at least another 4000 runs with the current ODI rules. Dada wrote: “Another 4000 or so ..2 new balls..wow .. sounds like a cover drive flying to the boundary in the first over of the game.. for the remaining 50 overs ..@ICC @sachin_rt”

With the luxury of T20 experience and more favourable laws for the batsmen, it would have been way too easy for Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to score more runs for the Indian National Cricket Team.

The current law helps the batsmen with two fielders outside the powerplay and four fielders outside the ring from 11-40 overs. With Ganguly and Sachin mostly playing in the top order, they would have been benefitted with the laws.
