Team India opener Ruturaj Gaikwad showcased his batting brilliance in the third T20I against Australia on Tuesday, November 28 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. He pulled off a great show for the crowd, slamming his maiden International century for Team India.

Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal. India suffered a couple of early blows, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan getting dismissed early. However, Gaikwad kept one end strong. His 57-run stand with Suryakumar Yadav steadied the Indian innings. The opener took the attack to the opposition, accelerating his innings.

In the final over of the Indian innings, Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed a six off Glenn Maxwell over deep mid-wicket. He brought up his maiden International century for India with the shot. The batter took Maxwell to the cleaners, slamming two more sixes and as many fours in the over. India managed 30 runs off the final over, as Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 123 runs. He slammed thirteen boundaries and seven sixes in the match and had a strike rate of 215.79.

Team India finished with 222 runs, batting first against Australia. They lost three wickets in the innings, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the top-scorer. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma also contributed valuable runs. Suryakumar Yadav slammed 39 runs off 29 deliveries, while Tilak smashed a 24-ball 31.

Ruturaj Gaikwad becomes ninth Indian to slam T20I century

Ruturaj Gaikwad joined an elite list of Indian players who have scored a century in T20 Internationals. The list boasts of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Gaikwad became the ninth Indian batter to score a century in the format. His knock is the only second-highest score for Team India in T20I. Shubham Gill is at the top with an unbeaten 126 runs against New Zealand.
