Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has roared back to form, as he slammed a double century against Assam on Tuesday, January 10 at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy tournament. He reached the milestone of just 235 deliveries, powering Mumbai to a great position on the first day.

Assam won the toss and asked Mumbai to bat first. Prithvi Shaw opened the innings with his new opening partner Musheer Khan. The duo got the team off to a great start, putting together 123 runs opening stand. Musheer was dismissed for 42 runs, however, Shaw continued his assault. He and Armaan Jaffer put on a decent 74 runs stand. After the latter’s dismissal, Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane played the perfect foil to the opening batter.

Prithvi Shaw completed his double century with a single, slamming twenty-nine boundaries and a six to get to the milestone. This is his second double-century in first-class cricket and his first three-figure mark of the 2022-23 Ranji trophy season. The opener did get starts in the first few games, but couldn’t convert them. However, he has made a great comeback with a double-century.
