A sudden heavy rainfall disrupted Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) final practice session ahead of their much-anticipated IPL 2024 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday. While Sunrisers Hyderabad had the day off, Kolkata Knight Riders were scheduled to practice in the evening under floodlights.
However, just as the players began their customary warm-up football game, rain forced them indoors. Despite the interruption, the ground staff managed to cover the fourth pitch, designated for the final match.

No rain is expected
While there is no official prediction of rain for Sunday, cloudy skies and reduced humidity are anticipated. Nevertheless, there is a slight possibility of rain due to Cyclone Remal in the northern Bay of Bengal, which could impact the capital of Tamil Nadu.

What happens if the IPL final is washed out?
If there’s a washout, a reserve day is planned, assuming the weather remains favourable. Should rain disrupt the IPL 2024 finals, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method will be utilized to adjust the matches.
If the game is entirely rained out, it will be rescheduled for Monday. If rain continues on the reserve day, the IPL 2024 winner will be decided based on the points table. In such a situation, Kolkata Knight Riders, currently topping the table, would be crowned champions.
