Former India international Sunil Joshi has replaced MSK Prasad as the chairman of All India men's selection panel. Another former cricketer Harvinder Singh was also added to the panel in place of Gagan Khoda after appearing for interviews before the Cricket Advisory Committee. Meanwhile, the panel posed some difficult questions to the potential selectors before picking the two names.

Venkatesh Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan, and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan along with Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh appeared for the interview ahead of the new cricket advisory committee headed by former all-rounder Madan Lal. Meanwhile, Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since India's ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019 losing to New Zealand in the semifinal. The legendary cricketer's break from the game will come to an end when he reunites with Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when it starts from March 29.

“Yes, the CAC had one common question and that was about their call with regards to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and whether they will select him for T20 World Cup,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.

Eventually, Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh were picked as the new selectors. The BCCI wanted someone who had a clear cut thought process on MS Dhoni's future in international cricket. There has been a lot of speculations over Dhoni's future and a lot has been spoken in the media over his retirement.

“Dhoni is both a sensitive and tricky issue and that’s why the question needed to be asked,” the source added.
