Team India cricketer Mohammed Shami was once again subjected to vilified comments on social media over his tweet celebrating the Dussehra festival. The Hindu festival of Dussehra, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil, is currently being celebrated all over the nation with great devotion.
Many eminent personalities wished the public a happy Dussehra on social media, including cricketer Shami, who is currently in the headlines for his selection to the T20 World Cup team.
However, the Islamists didn’t appreciate it and criticized Mohammed Shami for celebrating the Hindu festival, blaming him for betraying his religion to progress his career. Shami tweeted his best wishes for Dussehra and mentioned that he had prayed to Prabhu Ram for happiness, success, and wealth. He posted a photo of Prabhu Sri Ram slaying Ravan along with his tweet.
“On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, I pray that Lord Ram fills your life with lots of prosperity, success, and happiness. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Dussehra,” he tweeted.

Stressing that there was nothing wrong with Mohammed Shami celebrating Dussehra, Anurag Thakur said it’s important to come together as a nation when celebrating festivals. The Sports Minister also highlighted that every Indian cricketer celebrated the festival earlier in the month.
“Dussehra is celebrated across the country & world. (Indian cricketer) Mohammed Shami also tweeted (on it). What’s wrong with it? If someone opposes it, then they are the people who attempt to divide society. We must take country forward by remaining united,” Thakur said.
Incidentally, Mohammed Shami has been the target of Islamists in the past, too, when they criticized them about his picture with his wife.
Mohammed Shami in fray to replace Jasprit Bumrah in India’s T20 World Cup squad
Mohammed Shami, who hasn’t represented India in a T20I since the 2021 T20 World Cup, is currently the front-runner to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad. Due to a stress fracture, Bumrah will not participate in the T20 World Cup in Australia and might need several months to heal.
Shami, who recently tested negative for COVID-19, is currently at the National Cricket Academy trying to regain full fitness. The BCCI is yet to name the replacement and will wait a few more days before taking a final call.
