When Punjab Kings’ Harpreet Brar Slammed Hindi Cinema Actor Akshay Kumar

Punjab Kings’ Harpreet Brar has been grabbing the headlines ever since his brilliant show against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL 2021. Brar returned with figures of three for 19 and broke Bangalore’s middle-order which has so far performed like a well-oiled machine. Meanwhile, Harpreet is not only a hero on the field; he is also a hero off the field.

Meanwhile, coming from Moga, Punjab – Harpreet Brar takes a lot of pride in wearing his turban. Meanwhile, the young spinner was seen going after a troll who compared him with a famous Bollywood actor. Incidentally, an Instagram user noted that the Brar was looking like Akshay Kumar, from his movie ‘Singh is Bliing.’

When Harpreet Brar went after a troll

In the movie, which was released in 2015, Akshay Kumar played the role of a Sikh guy, who wears a turban. The movie became quite popular among Punjabis back in the day and still remains a quite well-known movie. The 25-year-old; however, was not pleased with the comparisons.

The user wrote, “Paaji aap singh is bling ke Akshay Kumar dikhte ho”, which means ‘Brother, you look like Akshay Kumar in the movie Singh is Bliing.’ To this, Harpreet Brar came up with a reply saying that he doesn’t wear the turban for money. He wrote, “Paise k liye Turban nhi pehnte hum #isupportfarmers,” he responded on his Twitter account with the screenshot of the question on his Instagram DM. This comment came amidst the farmers’ protest in India.

Harpreet Brar was Punjab Kings’ overnight star against Royal Challengers Bangalore.  He scored 25* runs from 17 balls when Punjab was batting, helping them to reach a substantial score before picking three wickets. Brar first dismissed Virat Kohli and then Glenn Maxwell with his very next ball. He later picked up AB de Villiers, to dismantle RCB’s run-chase, ending with 3 for 19 in four overs.
