Who Will Score 500 Runs For India Against Australia? Questions Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid

Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has questioned as to who will score 500 runs for India in the upcoming Test series against Australia. The first Test will be a day-night Test match in Adelaide, India’s first on foreign soil. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper has said that Indian bowlers can take 20 wickets but their batters cannot score 500 runs in the Test series.

Rahul Dravid was recently in conversation with ESPNcricinfo, where he shared his views on the Test series. The former India skipper feels if anyone between Steve Smith or David Warner gets going with the bat, it will be tough for the visitors to replicate their results from the last time.

Who will Score 500 Runs For India: Rahul Dravid

“I think we will be able to get 20 wickets over five days. [But] will we get a batsman who will get 500-plus runs for us in the series [or not] might define it; if we can get that, then we give ourselves a great chance. If one of Smith and Warner, who missed the last series, get that, then they [Australia] probably will have the edge,” Rahul Dravid said.

Meanwhile, another former Indian skipper Anil Kumble who also coached the team under Virat Kohli said that India has enough depth in their batting to counter the absence of Kohli. Incidentally, the skipper will return back to India to be with his wife after the first Test for the birth of their first child.

“Although with [Steven] Smith and [David] Warner coming back [after their ball-tampering bans the last time] and then Virat [Kohli] missing the three-Test matches will obviously be a big factor for India. But having said that, there’s enough ability within the team, be it batting or bowling,” said Kumble as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

India lost the ODI series against Australia and bounced back in the T20Is by winning the series 2-1. The four-match Test series commences from December 17th with the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.
