Cricket World in Awe as Abhishek Sharma's Stunning Century Against England in Fifth T20

Team India will be without Abhishek Sharma for their second T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia on Wednesday, February 12, in Delhi. The management has decided to rest the dynamic opener, who was discharged from the hospital just a few days ago after being treated for a stomach infection.

Sharma, the world’s No.1 T20I batter, had played in India’s tournament opener against the USA on February 7 in Mumbai despite feeling unwell. The southpaw struggled, falling to Ali Khan for a first-ball duck. Still, the defending champions managed to beat the USA by 29 runs, defending a total of 161.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Tilak Varma spoke about the 25-year-old’s condition, as reported by India TV:

“Abhishek went to the hospital, he went to get some tests done, and has been discharged now. He is doing well. We will decide how he feels tomorrow and take a call on the game.”

Abhishek Sharma could play in India’s match against Pakistan on Sunday, February 15, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
