Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl against the Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2026 clash on Saturday. For the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), captain Hardik Pandya was not present, and in his absence, Suryakumar Yadav was named the captain as well.
In Hardik’s absence, the Mumbai Indians made a few changes to their playing XI with Deepak Chahar coming in for him as well. They also brought in Corbin Bosch and Mitchell Santner, replacing Trent Boult and Allah Ghazanfar in the lineup as well.
However, Suryakumar Yadav also confirmed that Hardik Pandya wasn’t well and, therefore, could not be included in the playing XI against the Delhi Capitals as well.
“He’s not well, doesn’t look good, so he was not fit for today’s game. So just getting into his shoes today,” said Suryakumar, speaking on Hardik Pandya’s condition.
Suryakumar also said that the inclusion of Bosch and Santner over Boult and Ghazanfar was a tactical decision taken by the team as well.
“Quite a few changes. Deepak Chahar comes in for Hardik. Corbin Bosch comes in for Boulty; that’s a tactical change. Boulty had a good game in the last game at Wankhede. And Mitch Santner comes in for Allah Ghazanfar,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals went unchanged.
