The Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who did not find any buyer at the IPL 2025 mega auction, expressed his dismay. Yadav, who was part of the IPL franchise since the first season in 2009, went unsold in the auction as no team showed interest in him. His IPL journey began with Delhi Capitals and being a fast bowler, he established himself and got picked into the Indian team in 2010.
Most had thought that Yadav was going to do well in the auction, more so given the prior experience that he had combined with the good performance indicators that have been witnessed in the IPL. He has been relatively productive in the IPL and has represented several teams, one of which was the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Umesh Yadav unhappy over auction snub

Umesh Yadav, an Indian fast bowler, has voiced his unhappiness at not being sold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Although not many people anticipated the pacer to be unsold at the auction, he did not receive a single offer.
“Everyone knows that I wasn’t selected for the IPL this year. I have been playing for 15 years. It (unsold at IPL 2025) is very shocking for me. Why should I lie? It feels bad. After playing so much and playing close to 150 IPL matches, you don’t get selected. It’s shocking,” Umesh Yadav told Inside Sport.
“It’s upon the franchises and their strategies, or my name came late in the auction, and they weren’t left with money. Regardless, something has happened. I am very frustrated and disturbed. But still, it’s okay. I can’t change anyone’s decision,” he added.
Umesh is no longer with the Indian team. His final appearance for Team India was against Australia in the 2023 World Test Championship final.
