WI vs IND 2023: “Mohammed Siraj Has Taken Such A Giant Step In His Career” – Rohit Sharma
Mohammed Siraj picks his five wicket haul in Test matches

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj’s performance in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies. He expressed that the pacer has taken a giant step in his career, leading the Indian pace bowling attack in the series, in the absence of senior bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

Mohammed Siraj took seven wickets in two matches at an average of 17.86 in the Test series against West Indies. He took a career-best five-wicket haul in the second Test. His spell ended with figures of five for 60 runs, helping India to take the first-innings lead. In the absence of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj stepped up to take responsibility in the pace unit.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma praised Mohammed Siraj. He expressed,

“Siraj, over the years now, I’ve been watching him closely for 2-3 years. He has taken such a giant step in his personal career, how he has led the attack in the absence of Bumrah and Shami as well. I don’t want anyone to lead the attack. I want everyone to be leading the attack whenever they have the ball in hand. That is the kind of mindset you want to have. You don’t want to depend on one or two individuals. You want the entire pace battery to take the responsibility to get the job done for the team and that is exactly what the guys have done in the past few years.”

I’m very pleased: Mohammed Siraj on his performance in the second Test

Mohammed Siraj won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the second Test against West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He finished the match with five wickets. The pacer expressed that he is pleased with his performance, and also credited the skipper Rohit Sharma. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said,

“This is my first player of the match award in Tests, I’m very pleased. There wasn’t much help for the Pacers. I kept my plans simple and executed them. When you pick wickets in conditions like this, you get loads of confidence. Rohit bhai asked me to believe in myself, not take any pressure and enjoy.”
