Team India batter Rohit Sharma’s fantastic run continued in the second Test against West Indies on Sunday, July 23 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He slammed a quick-fire fifty in the second innings for Team India on the fourth day of the Test. His knock got India off to a great start, setting a total for West Indies.

Rohit Sharma walked out to open the innings along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo took on the bowlers from the word go. The Indian skipper slammed a six off Kemar Roach in the third over, to start the onslaught. In the next over, he smashed another six off Alzarri Joseph. The batter also got lucky when Shannon Gabriel dropped his catch at long-off when he was on 25 runs.

In the sixth over, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up the fifty runs partnership. This is the fastest-ever fifty runs opening stand for India in Tests, coming off thirty-three deliveries. The right-handed batter brought up his individual fifty in the tenth over. He slammed Shannon Gabriel for a boundary to score a 35-ball 50. Gabriel finally dismissed him for 57 runs off 44 deliveries, with five boundaries and three sixes.

This fifty was Rohit Sharma’s third consecutive fifty in the ongoing series. He has slammed 240 runs in the series so far, at an average of 80, including a century. The Indian skipper now also holds the record of scoring the most consecutive double-digit scores in Test cricket history. This was his 30th consecutive double-digit score.

Team India leads by 281 runs at lunch on the fourth day

Team India put on 98 runs in their second innings in 12 overs at the loss of one wicket. They lead by 281 runs in the match. Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten on 37 runs of 28 deliveries, with four boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has just walked out to the crease, after the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket. Earlier in the day, West Indies was bowled out for 255 runs, in response to India’s 438 in the first innings.
