Youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are making their debuts in Test cricket against West Indies on Wednesday, July 12 in the first of the two-match Test series in Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. They were handed their maiden Test caps ahead of the start of the play on the first day.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to social media to congratulate the duo on making their debut. Yashasvi Jaiswal got the cap from Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, while Virat Kohli handed over the debut cap to Ishan Kishan. Sharing pictures from the ceremony, the Board of Control for Cricket in India wrote,
“Congratulations to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan who are all set to make their Test debut for #TeamIndia. Go well, lads! #WIvIND”

Team India will bowl first, as West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and opted to bat. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed that the two debutants, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan should enjoy the moment, as they have worked hard to earn their debut. Speaking at the toss ceremony, he expressed,
“I want the two debutants to enjoy, they’ve worked hard to come here. I want to make them feel comfortable and have some good memories of their first Test”
