WI vs IND: [WARCH] Bizarre Moment Stops The Game Before The First Ball; Leading India And West Indies Players Back To Dugout

An unusual incident occurred during the 3rd T20I when both India and West Indies players left the field due to the absence of the 30-yard circle. The beginning of the 3rd T20I between India and West Indies in Guyana was postponed due to an incredibly unusual circumstance in cricket.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell chose to bat after winning the toss with the intention of securing the series, while India’s skipper Hardik Pandya was prepared to begin bowling. However, right before the action was set to start, things took an unexpected turn. Both the Indian players and the West Indies opener retreated to the dugout, creating a perplexing scene of bewilderment.

Holding the ball, Hardik was ready for action. He had previously opened for India, clinching two wickets in the initial over of the last game. Anticipating a repeat performance, Hardik assumed his position as Windies’ openers, Brandon King and Kyle Mayers, took their stances. Unexpectedly, the focus shifted to the ground officials, who gestured towards the on-field umpires.

Even match referee Richie Richardson displayed his displeasure as he observed the chaotic scene while holding a box of white Dukes. As it turns out, the delay was due to an unmarked 30-yard circle, as disclosed by the commentators on air.

“Have you seen this before?” asked out of the commentators while the other replied saying, “I guess someone had a long night.”

The groundsmen quickly noticed their mistake and rushed to fix it. After around 10 minutes, the issue was resolved, and the game started with Hardik bowling the first ball to King.

India hoping to prevent a 17-year downturn.

India has not experienced a white-ball series defeat against West Indies lasting over three matches since 2006 when they were defeated 1-4 in ODIs. Interestingly, Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of India, was the captain at that time.

However, India has previously lost the T20I series to West Indies – in a one-off match in 2016 and a two-match series in 2017 (which West Indies won 1-0). In the current match, Ishan Kishan was replaced by debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav took the place of Ravi Bishnoi.
