Team India cricketer Ajinkya Rahane is one of the best slip fielders in world cricket at the moment. His expertise in the slips cordon came to the fore to dismiss Jermaine Blackwood during the second Test against West Indies on Saturday, July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The sensational slip-catch left the fans and experts in awe.
The incident took place during the eighty-seventh over of the West Indies innings on the third day of the second test. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a leg-stump pitched delivery, which spun a lot. Blackwood got forward to defend but managed an edge. The ball brushed the wicket-keeper’s gloves and flew to the left of Ajinkya Rahane, who is at first slip.
Ajinkya Rahane was standing slightly wide and showed great reflexes. He dived to his left and took a stunning one-handed catch. Jermaine Blackwood’s knock came to an end with Rahane’s brilliant effort. He walked back to the hut for 20 runs, off 92 deliveries, with two boundaries. West Indies was reduced to 178 runs for the loss of four wickets.
