WI vs IND: [WATCH] ‘Yes, Boy’ – Virat Kohli’s Heartwarming Gesture After Mukesh Kumar Claims Maiden Test Wicket

During the Trinidad match, India’s debutant Mukesh Kumar had a memorable day as he claimed his first-ever Test wicket against the West Indies. It was a special moment for Mukesh to replace the injured Shardul Thakur in the playing XI.

The momentous wicket came when Mukesh bowled a length delivery outside off to the left-handed Kirk McKenzie, who had aggressively started Day 3 for the West Indies. McKenzie attempted a late cut but missed the ball entirely, resulting in a nick to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

Mukesh’s excitement was evident as he celebrated the dismissal, with captain Virat Kohli embracing him, and other Indian teammates joining in to mark the occasion. Shortly after the dismissal, rain interrupted play for over an hour, leading to an early lunch break on the third day.

Mukesh’s Test call-up followed an impressive performance in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal, where he took 22 wickets in five matches. In addition, he played for the Delhi Capitals in the 2023 Indian Premier League and earned commendation from the team’s coach, Ricky Ponting.

For Mukesh, it was an emotional moment as he received his Test cap from Ravichandran Ashwin before the start of the match. In an interview with the BCCI after the day’s play, Mukesh shared his heartfelt conversation with his mother about his debut.

His mother’s words of encouragement resonated deeply with him, as she advised him to stay happy and keep moving forward. She conveyed her blessings and urged him to focus on continuous improvement. Mukesh expressed his overwhelming happiness and gratitude, struggling to find words to describe the significance of the day. He felt immensely fortunate to have received cap number 308 from Ashwin, considering it the most important day of his life.

The heartwarming gesture from Virat Kohli, along with the support and encouragement from his family, made Mukesh’s debut in Test cricket a truly unforgettable and emotional experience.
