“I had to cut down on meat and now I feel better than ever” – “Kohli Discloses The Motive Behind His Transition To Vegetarianism

Kohli maintains a mostly vegetarian diet, with eggs as the only exception, to support his physical fitness and athletic performance. Kohli avoids processed and fried foods, as well as refined sugar, instead opting for plant-based protein sources like tofu and soy, along with leafy greens, fresh fruits, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats.

Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Kohli’s decision to embrace a vegetarian lifestyle stems from health issues he encountered during the 2018 India tour of South Africa.

At that time, he experienced a cervical spine problem that caused a tingling sensation in his little finger, making it difficult for him to bat. Additionally, his stomach became more acidic, resulting in elevated uric acid levels and calcium depletion from his bones, ultimately leading to the spine issue.

Consequently, Kohli made the choice to reduce his meat consumption, which has since resulted in improved overall health. In the recent Test match against West Indies, Kohli showcased his remarkable skills by scoring 76 runs off 182 balls at Windsor Park in Dominica.

Notably, his performance allowed him to surpass Virender Sehwag’s total runs, securing a position among the top five run-getters for India in Test cricket. Virat Kohli’s century and partnerships with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja were instrumental in India’s dominant victory by 141 runs.

Looking ahead, Kohli is preparing for the second Test against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, scheduled to commence on July 20. Kohli’s dedication to fitness and remarkable achievements continue to inspire fans as they eagerly await his upcoming performance in the game.
