Ravindra Jadeja expressed his surprise at the unexpected movement observed by some West Indies bowlers during the initial Test match held in Dominica. The first Test match between India and West Indies in Dominica saw India emerge as the dominant force, despite encountering a few surprising elements on the pitch.
By the second day, noticeable cracks appeared on the playing surface, causing some deliveries to exhibit unexpected movements that caught the batsmen off guard. On the third day, Ravindra Jadeja was taken aback when a delivery from Kraigg Brathwaite landed on one of the cracks, spinning and bouncing sharply.
Recognizing the unpredictable nature of the deliveries, Jadeja swiftly called for a helmet, and even Virat Kohli couldn’t contain his amusement, responding with a mischievous smile.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s exceptional performance, securing his second five-wicket haul in the game, proved too much for a poorly prepared West Indies batting lineup. His bowling prowess played a pivotal role in India’s commanding 141-run victory in the opening Test.
Following India’s declaration of their first innings at 421 for five, expectations were high for an improved batting display from the West Indies. However, they failed to rise to the occasion and collapsed for a mere 130 all out in 50 overs, leading to a three-day finish.
Ashwin’s remarkable achievement in the first innings claimed his 33rd five-wicket haul. He was surpassed by his outstanding figures of seven for 71 in 21.3 overs during the second innings. The outcome of the match was virtually assured when the West Indies were dismissed for 150 on the opening day.
In addition to Ashwin’s contribution, India’s comprehensive victory was also indebted to Yashasvi Jaiswal. He made a remarkable debut with an impressive score of 171.
Virat Kohli added 76 runs off 182 balls, although his innings lacked fluency as he had to toil hard for his runs. He was even granted two reprieves through dropped catches along the way.
