WI vs IND: [WATCH] Virat Kohli Scores His First Boundary On The 81st Delivery In The Opening Test Against West Indies

Virat Kohli showed great enthusiasm and excitement after hitting his first boundary off the 81st delivery he faced in the opening Test match between India and West Indies.

This happened on Day 2 at Windsor Park in Dominica on July 13. Kohli played a perfect shot towards extra cover to secure his first boundary after spending a significant amount of time at the crease.

During the 109th over of India’s first innings, bowled by Jomel Warrican, Kohli drove a flighted delivery outside the off stump and found the gap at extra cover. This marked his first boundary of the match.

The 34-year-old celebrated the shot, perhaps in a lighthearted manner, as he had finally managed to break free. By the end of the day, Kohli remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 96 deliveries, including a solitary boundary.

Virat Kohli has historically performed exceptionally well against West Indies. In 14 Tests against them, he has accumulated 822 runs, including two centuries, except for the ongoing Test. Overall, he has scored 11 centuries across formats against West Indies.

Following the quick dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, India’s innings was stabilized by a partnership between Virat Kohli and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The two remained unbeaten and added 72 runs to the scoreboard. This partnership followed a record-breaking 239-run opening partnership between Rohit and Jaiswal.

Rohit Sharma played a captain’s innings, scoring 103 runs off 221 balls with two sixes and 10 boundaries. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 143 runs off 350 deliveries, including 14 boundaries.

At the end of Day 2, India’s score stood at 312/2, giving them a lead of 162 runs. For West Indies, Jomel Warrican and Alick Athanaze claimed one wicket each.

In the first innings, West Indies were dismissed for 150 runs in 64.3 overs, largely due to Ravichandran Ashwin’s five-wicket haul. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets, while Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj claimed one wicket each.
