WI vs IND: West Indies Announce Squad For The ODI Series Against India
Shimron Hetymer returns to ODI squad

West Indies announced their squad for the 3-match One-day international squad to be played against India starting from 27th July onwards. The two-time World Champion did not qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023 to be played in India.  They will be looking to give the Indian team a tough time.

Shimron Hetymer and Oshane Thomas have been recalled into the squad for this series. Star players like Nicolas Pooran and Jason Holder have been excluded from the team. Shai Hope will lead the squad and would be looking to showcase their talent against the experienced Indian side. Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers might open the innings for West Indies.

Brandon King, Alick Athanaze, Rovman Powell, Yannic Cariah, and Shimron Hetymer comprise middle-order batters. Romario Speharad and Kevin Sinclair are the only all-rounders in the squad. Alazzari Jospeh, Oshane Thomas, Dominic Drakes, and Jayden Seales are the pace bowling options in the series. Gudakesh Motie and Kevin Sinclair comprise spinners in the squad.

“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up,” Desmond Haynes was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot, especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’,” he added.
