The Delhi Commission for Women’s (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal slammed those who trolled and abused Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill’s sister on social media, following the cricketer’s century against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Premier League. She vowed to take action against the abusers.

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten century powered the Gujarat Titans to a win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, May 21 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. With this result, the hosts were eliminated from the tournament. Some of the Royal Challengers Bangalore fans, who were unhappy with the result, abused Shubman Gill and his sister on social media.

The Delhi Commission for Women’s (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal shared screenshots of the messages on Twitter. She expressed that the behaviour is extremely shameful, and vowed to take action against the abusers. She wrote on Twitter,

“Extremely shameful to see trollers abusing #ShubhmanGill’s sister just because the team they follow lost a match. Previously we had initiated action against people abusing #ViratKohli’s daughter. DCW will take action against all those who have abused Gill’s sister as well. This shall not be tolerated.”
