Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir celebrated his 44th birthday on Tuesday, October 14. The senior men’s team gave him a perfect gift by defeating the West Indies 2-0. After a disappointing 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand, this victory would have been a major relief for Gambhir. A former left-handed batting star, he has now transitioned successfully into coaching.

Under his guidance, India has clinched the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2025 Asia Cup. As a player, Gambhir featured in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is for India, amassing 4,154 Test runs with nine centuries and 5,238 ODI runs with 11 centuries. He also delivered unforgettable match-winning innings in the 2007 T20 World Cup final and the 2011 World Cup final.

On his 44th birthday, numerous former teammates sent their best wishes. Here are some wishes:

Gautam Gambhir Geared Up For His Next Big Challenge In Australia

Gautam Gambhir will have very little turnaround time before his next assignment. After the West Indies series, the Indian team is set to travel to Australia for a challenging limited-overs tour. They are scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is Down Under starting October 19.

The Men in Blue have consistently performed well in white-ball cricket under Gambhir’s guidance. This will also be Shubman Gill’s first series as ODI captain, adding extra responsibility for the young leader. With India having won both the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup, expectations are naturally high from the team in all formats, especially in challenging overseas conditions.

Playing in Australia is always demanding. Under Gambhir, India have won nine out of 12 ODIs so far. In T20Is, the team has secured victories in 20 of their 22 matches. This impressive record highlights his consistent success, strategic acumen, and strong leadership in white-ball cricket as India’s coach to date.
