The inaugural edition of Women’s Premier League 2023 venues and dates have been announced by IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. This tournament will be played from 4th-26th March. Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will host all the matches with the first match expected to be played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians franchise.

The auction will be held on 13th February in Mumbai after India’s first match in the T20I World Cup against Pakistan. Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Capri Global Holdings (Lucknow), and Gujarat Giants have bought the franchises.

A total of 1500 players have registered their names for the Women’s Premier League 2023 and the final list will be released this week. The auction will include that each team will have Rs 12 Crore and need to buy a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 players. A total of five overseas players will be allowed involving one from an associate nation would feature in the playing XI.

The tournament will include 22 games with the top-ranked team will qualify for the finals directly. Second and third-place teams will fight to make it into the grand finale.

Adani Sportsline bought the Ahmedabad-based franchise called Gujarat Giants with the highest bid of Rs 1289 Crore. Indiawin Sports Private Limited bought the Mumbai franchise for Rs 912.99 Crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore Sports Limited bought the RCB franchise for Rs 901 Crore.

JSW GMR Private Limited called Delhi Capitals bought the franchise for Rs 810 Crore and Capri Global Holdings Private Limited bought the Lucknow franchise named Lucknow Warriors bought it for Rs 757 Crore.

Viacom Media 18 won the media rights for global television rights and global digital rights of Women’s Premier League 2023-2027. Viacom bought the rights for 951 Crore which equals 7.09 Crore per match. It is a massive achievement for women’s cricket overall that will help both Indian and foreign cricketers to play under one roof.

With the T20 World Cup about to start from 10th February onwards, the cricketers will look at the price and franchise they will be bought in the auction to take place on 13th.
