Delhi Capitals began their first training session under the watchful eyes of head coach Jonathan Batty in Mumbai on 28 February 2023.

Speaking about the exciting bunch of DC players ahead of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, Batty said, “The players started to gel straightaway in our first practice session. The talent is outstanding in our group. I was impressed with how the players batted during the session.”

The Head Coach also expressed that the Delhi Capitals have the potential to reach the Final of the tournament, “We have compiled a strong squad, a super group of players. If we can get the players performing at their maximum potential in the tournament, then we should hopefully qualify for the Final. But as a coaching group, we must ensure that our players are the best versions of themselves every day.”

DC is yet to announce their captain for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. It looks like a solid unit with a mix of youth and experience.

They will start their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore in CCI, Brabourne Stadium on 5 March 2023.

Delhi Capitals squad for the WPL 2023

Delhi Capitals has assembled a mix of youth and experience for the Women’s Premier League 2023. They bought Jemimah Rodrigues for Rs 2.2 Crore, Meg Lanning for 1.1 Crore, Shafali Verma for 2 Crore, Radha Yadav for 40 Lakhs, and Shikha Pandey for 60 Lakhs.

South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was bought by the Delhi Capitals franchise for Rs 1.5 Crore, Under 19 winner Titas Sadhu for 25 Lakhs, Alice Capsey for Rs 75 Lakhs, Tara Norris for Rs 10 Lakhs, Laura Harris for 45 Lakhs, Jasia Akther for 20 Lakhs, Minnu Mani for 30 Lakhs, Jess Jonassen for 50 Lakhs, Tanyia Bhatia for 30 Lakhs, Poonam Yadav for 30 Lakhs, Sneha Deepti for 30 Lakhs, Arundathi Reddy for 30 Lakhs, Aparna Mondal for 10 Lakhs.

Delhi Capitals bought 18 players in the squad and has 35 Lakhs purse remaining. DC will look to showcase its talent against the other four teams. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma are some top-quality batters that they can depend on.
