They crushed UP Warriorz by nine wickets in an entirely one-sided match at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The visitors’ batting order crumbled under the strain and scored only 143 for five in their innings—a target that was no challenge to the already powerful Bengaluru team.
In pursuit of the small total, the batters from Bengaluru exhibited a lot of confidence and even more aggression, thus winning the match quite easily. The team finished the chase in only 13 overs, thus displaying their superior batting depth and form. UP’s batsmen struggled a lot right from the start, although they tried to change their opening pair.
The openers Meg Lanning and Harleen Deol were dismissed for low scores, while Phoebe Litchfield’s short fight (20 runs) also came to a quick end as the Bengaluru bowlers were on top of their game. When UP was at 50 for five, they looked like a team that would post a small total, but it was only then that Deepti Sharma (45 not out) and Deandra Dottin (40 not out) stepped in and pulled off a brave fight back with their unbroken 93-run alliance, which eventually took UP to 143 for five.
The batting by Bengaluru was an eruption of runs. Batter Grace Harris scored 85 runs in 40 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes, while at the other end captain Smriti Mandhana (47 not out) played wonderfully. The pair’s fiery 137-run opening stand completely crushed UP’s bowling attack. Bengaluru reached the target in just 12.1 overs soaking up none of their wickets and won by nine wickets which was a clear-cut nine-wicket victory and affirmed their superiority in the league.
