Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha has returned COVID-19 positive for the second time now after completing almost two weeks of isolation. As a result, his participation in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand hangs by the wire after BCCI officials stated that no cricketers will be entertained with a positive report.
Meanwhile, BCCI stopped IPL 2021 midway owing to the growing COVID-19 scare across teams where cases started popping up from almost every team. Wriddhiman Saha was one of the players who got positive two weeks back and will have to wait for another round of testing before turning negative.

However, it has been reported that Saha doesn’t have any symptoms of the deadly virus now in his body. He has recovered from body ache, fever, and cough which he experienced earlier. As the results are not in his favour, he will have to continue his isolation in Delhi and doctors might release him from his quarantine after turning negative.
Wriddhiman Saha, who contracted the COVID-19 virus during IPL 2021 stated that he was extremely scared during the initial days. His family also started to panic but Saha’s franchise took great care of the cricketers and things started to change gradually.
“I was certainly scared. A virus that has brought the Earth to a standstill, after being infected by it, I was bound to feel scared. Everyone in the family was very worried. We reassured them through video calls that there is no reason to be afraid. I am being taken care of enough,” Saha said earlier in an interview with Anandbazar Patrika.
Meanwhile, after a pale IPL 2021 assignment, the national selectors named Wriddhiman Saha in the squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship subject to fitness. Now it remains to be seen if he manages to make it to the squad that travels to the UK later this month.
