Team India climbed to number 1 in the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship cycle. They achieved this feat after Australia’s thumping victory over New Zealand in the first test match played at Basin Reserve, Wellington that finished on 3rd March 2024.

Indian Team has played a total of 8 test matches with 5 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. They won the first test against West Indies at Dominica before the 2nd match at Port of Spain, Trinidad did not yield any result due to heavy rains.

After this series, the Indian team visited South Africa for a 2-match Test series. Rohit Sharma and Co lost the first test match by an innings and 32 runs at Centurion. They came back strongly to win the second test at Cape Town by 7 wickets to level the series.

The Indian team will take on England in the fifth and final test match at Dharmshala. Rohit Sharma and Co suffered 28 run loss at Hyderabad before making a strong comeback to win 2nd Test by 106 runs at Vizag. Rohit Sharma and Co registered their highest win in Test matches with 434 victory in Rajkot. Indian youngsters showed steel before winning by 5 wickets at Ranchi to seal the series.

Before the first test match against Australia, New Zealand was at the number 1 spot with 75 percent points. After this loss, the Kiwis slipped down to the number 2 spot while India climbed to the number 1 spot. The Indian Cricket Team has a chance to consolidate their position if they win the fifth test match against England at Dharmshala starting from 7th March onwards.

India has won the Test series by 3-1 with a thrilling 5-wicket win over England in Ranchi. They would look to showcase their skills as would look to consolidate their position with another brilliant performance at Dharmshala without their key players.

Australia is currently at the number 3 spot and would look to continue their brilliant form as they look to win the 2nd Test at Christchurch from 8th March onwards. Aussies won the first test comfortably by 172 runs after an impressive performance by Cameron Green, and Nathan Lyon with key performers.
