Team India consolidated their number 1 spot in the 2023-25 World Test Championship points table. Rohit Sharma and Co registered a thumping innings and 64 runs victory on the 3rd day of the 5th test match played at Dharmshala on 9th March 2024.

India climbed to the number 1 spot after Australia’s 172-run victory over New Zealand in the first Test match at Wellington. Indian team proved their domination over England in the fifth test at Dharmshala which ended before the tea break on 3rd day.

It was a sensational effort by the Indian team in this test match. Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja created havoc to bowl out England for 218 in the first innings. Rohit Sharma and Gill’s centuries along with Sarfaraz Khan, Paddikal, and Jaiswal’s half-centuries ensured that India posted 477 runs in the first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah captained the Indian side as Rohit Sharma was off the field due to back stiffness. R Ashwin created havoc among the England side picking 5 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav and Bumrah grabbed 2 wickets each Jadeja took 1 wicket to bowl out England for 195 runs in 2nd innings.

With this massive win, the Indian team consolidated their top spot in the latest ICC Test championship cycle. They would now play against Bangladesh and New Zealand at home this year hoping to continue their domination at home.

India suffered a shocking loss to England in the first test match at Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma and Co made a strong comeback with a stunning 106-run victory in Vizag to level the series at 1-1. India then produced record record-breaking 434-run win in Rajkot helping Team India take a 2-1 lead.

Thanks to Dhurv Jurel and Shubman Gill’s brilliance for the 6th wicket helped India win the 4th test by 5 wickets to seal the series.
