WTC Final 2021: India’s Fielding Coach R Sridhar Hints At Possible Changes In The Announced Playing XI

Team India announced their playing 11 on the eve of the World Test Championship Final on Thursday. But due to heavy rains and a wet outfield, no play was possible today. Amid this, there arose speculations regarding possible changes in India’s XI since Virat Kohli had given the nod to a side with two spinners but they will prove effective only in dry conditions contrary to what we saw from the visuals on Day 1.

There always is a possibility to change the playing 11 before the toss, there was nothing sure that India would make a change. But now, India’s fielding coach has hinted that the team could make some changes in the team if they feel necessary before the toss.

The fielding coach hinted that India will look at the playing conditions and make the necessary changes if needed. After it rained continuously on Day 1, India might be tempted to include an extra fast bowler. These changes will be looked into by the management.

“The toss has not yet taken place but if there’s a decision to be taken, it will be taken,” Sridhar said after play was called off on Day 1 at a press conference.

This implies that India could still include either Mohammed Siraj or Umesh Yadav in place of either Ravindra Jadeja or Ravichandran Ashwin based on the wet conditions on offer.
