The historic WTC final between India and New Zealand has grabbed the attention of cricketing fans all over the world and everybody has started making their bold prediction regarding the Match, Team Selection, and Results.
This time it was the commentators’ turn to make predictions regarding the inaugural World Test Championship Final. The International Cricket Council ( ICC ) posted a clip in which Veteran commentators were seen sharing their thoughts on the match.
Simon Doull and Craig McMillan openly showed their support towards their home side; New Zealand. Backing the Blackcaps to lift the first-ever World Test Championship trophy to end their trophy drought in ICC tournaments.
“I think you could flip a coin if you are trying to pick a side who could win. But I guess with my New Zealand hat on, I think we perhaps have got a slight advantage over India. But it is going to be very close. It is going to be a cracker,” Doull said.
“I hate that question! But from a personal point of view, New Zealand obviously,” said former New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan.

Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar too supported his home side. He explained India’s impact players might create a big difference in the final clash.
“I think India are going to win, and I am not saying that only because I am an Indian. I just believe India have got far more impact players (than New Zealand),” said Gavaskar.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara suggested that India is overall a better team but looking at the current form the Black Caps are slightly ahead in the match.
“I just think that overall game-wise, India probably have a better-balanced side. But New Zealand on the form may have a slight edge. It is going to be a fantastic game. Two best Test sides, playing in a World Test Championship Final is nothing more than you could have hoped for. Yes I am expecting it to be a very good and close game,” Kumar Sangakkara said.

The only cricketer to predict a match ending in a draw was Ian Bishop, he suggested that with the rainy weather around the WTC final might end in a draw. His prediction is looking the strongest one of them as of now because the match between India and New Zealand has been delayed due to rain and the weather forecast at Southampton for the rest of the match looks bleak.
“Given the weather around, I am going to go down the middle of the road and say it is going to be a draw and both teams split,” said Ian Bishop.
