Team India pacer Mohammed Shami feels that the pitch used at the Kennington Oval for the World Test Championship final against Australia wasn’t fully prepared for the game. The pitch offered variable bounce during the match, and some batters from both the Indian and Australian teams were also hit on the body by the fast bowlers.

Earlier, Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur also expressed that the pitch at The Oval looked underprepared for the final. Shardul was hit on the body repeatedly in the first innings but showed great resilience. After the end of the fourth day’s play, pacer Mohammed Shami also echoed the same thoughts.

“In Test matches, pitches tend to get slower as the game goes on. But I don’t think this pitch was fully prepared for World Test Championship final. It was not fully ready but day by day it does change in a Test match,” said Shami.

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami expressed the belief that they can win the World Test Championship final against Australia. He stated that they need to bat well on the final day, as the score is gettable. Team India needs 280 runs on the fifth day of the match, with seven wickets in hand. Virat Kohli is at the crease along with Ajinkya Rahane for Team India.

“Test matches should be decided on day five and in the last session. That is what is called a proper Test. In the last four years, we have played well against Australia. Both have fought hard. We will have to bat well tomorrow,” said Shami.

”100 per cent believe we can win the match. We have performed well overseas not just in England, and will come together to win this. 280 runs if you bat well it is gettable,” he added.
