Team India batter Virat Kohli joined an elite list of players during the World Test Championship final. He became the fifth Indian cricketer to score 2000 Test runs against Australia. The incident took place on day four of the World Test Championship final at the Kennington Oval in London.

Virat Kohli is unbeaten on 40 runs in the fourth innings of the match at the end of day four. During the course of the knock, he completed 2000 Test runs against Australia. Kohli needed 21 runs before the start of the match. He fell short of the mark in the first innings but got to it comfortably in the second. The veteran batter became the fifth India to achieve the milestone.

Sachin Tendulkar leads the list of Most runs scored against Australia in Test matches. Meanwhile, Kohli’s teammate Cheteshwar Pujara is fourth on the list with 2074 runs. Virat Kohli also completed 5000 runs against Australia across formats. He averages 51.05 and has slammed sixteen centuries, with twenty-four half-centuries.

Australia in driver’s seat ahead of day five in WTC final

Australia will be confident heading into day five of the World Test Championship final against India. They need seven wickets to win the all-important clash. Chasing 444 runs, Team India finished day four at 163 runs for the loss of three wickets. Skipper Rohit Sharma along with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara is back to the pavilion. Veteran batter Virat Kohli is at the crease along with Ajinkya Rahane.

Virat Kohli is unbeaten on 44 runs, while Rahane is on 20 runs. They need 280 more runs on day five to win the match or play out the whole day to enforce a draw. Earlier in the match, Travis Head and Steve Smith slammed centuries, while Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur scored fifties for their respective teams.
