The ICC is likely to shift the venue for the World Test Championship final out of Lords as per reports in Times of India. Lord’s was the venue scheduled to host the final but it could miss out on hosting the all-important game owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, India qualified for the finals after beating England in the fourth Test by an inning and 25 runs. The two Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel took five wickets each to pave the way for a comfortable win.

Meanwhile, as per TOI,  the ongoing pandemic has prompted ICC to look for an alternate venue for the World Test Championship final which is all set to take place in June later this year.

World Test Championship Venue Will Be Announced Soon: ICC

“The venue will be announced soon. Lord’s is not the venue ICC is planning for. ICC will be advised by the England and Wales Cricket Board and its own medical health professionals to decide on the venue for the final. There could be a case of creating a similar bio-bubble as the ECB had for the last home summer,” an ICC source was quoted as saying by Times of India.

England had hosted Pakistan and West Indies successfully at home last year while creating bio-secure bubbles at the venues. ICC will be advised by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on the matter before a final call is taken on the venue for the WTC final.

India entered the WTC final leading the points table and the ICC rankings for Tests. They were the most successful side with 12 wins, 4 defeats, and 1 draw from a total of 17 matches. Series wins against England and Australia were the two most important takeaways from their victorious campaign.

India is followed by New Zealand on the second spot in the WTC points tale. In many ways, it’s the repeat of the 2019 World Cup semi-final between the two teams once again. The Kiwis got the better of Team India on that occasion.
