WTC Final: Wasim Jaffer Sheds Light On New Zealand’s Flaws Ahead Of Title Clash

Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer has opined about the playing style of the New Zealand cricket team, and this one aspect about the way Blackcaps play cricket is not much talked about.

The Blackcaps have been in Marvelous form in the last few years while playing test cricket. They have developed a strong batting line-up consisting of players like Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, and Tom Latham and A strong bowling unit consisting of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Neil Wagner.

The Black Caps has become a complete all-round team with the emergence of star all-rounder Kyle Jamieson. The recent series test win against England shows how strong a squad they have heading into the WTC finals at Southampton.

Wasim Jaffer noted and pinpointed a playing pattern of the Blackcaps. He pointed out that he has not seen the team making a good comeback in the match and defeat the opposition. He compared it with India’s recent test victories against England and Australia, where India won the series even after losing the opening match.

“I feel there’s a bit of a pattern with New Zealand. Looking at their stats over the last few years, they have not come back from behind and won a Test match. They have always won Test matches when they have dominated or have been an equal team during the game.

Like how the Indian team won in Australia, they came from behind, and even against England, they lost the first Test and won 3-1 that series. I have not seen that with New Zealand. So, if the Indian team can put them under pressure straight away, then I think we have got a good chance to win this championship,” Jaffer said on his Youtube channel.

The analysis made by the Jaffer is a pretty accurate one as it is true that Kiwis most of the time fail to make a strong comeback in the match.

However, New Zealand has performed exceptionally well in the ICC World Test Championship. They only lost one series during the competition in Australia, where they were defeated 0-3. Australians completely dominated that series.

India lock horns with New Zealand in the WTC final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, which starts from June 18.
