Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin pulled off yet another brilliant bowling performance. He took a five-wicket haul in the innings and also breached the 700th-wicket mark in international cricket. He became only the 16th bowler to do so. Talking about the performance, Ashwin expressed that he had to adapt early and get his pace right to trouble the batters.

Thought it was a pretty good performance,” Ashwin said.

“There was a bit of moisture on the pitch earlier but it started to spin later. Saw on the TV as well that it turned more later. Had to adapt early. It was a bit dry, have to get the pace right to trouble the batsmen,” he added.

Team India bowled West Indies out for 150 runs. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets. Meanwhile, debutant Alick Athanaze was the leading run-scorer in the innings for the hosts with 47 runs. At the end of day one, Indian openers put on 80 runs on the board. Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten on 40, while Rohit Sharma has scored 30* runs.
