Star Indian top-order batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who recently smashed an unbeaten 116 in the third ODI against South Africa on Saturday (December 6),  is set to turn out for Mumbai in the Super League stage of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The Super League fixtures and the SMAT 2025 final will be held in Pune from December 12 to 18.

As per a Cricbuzz report on Sunday, the 23-year-old left-hander, who last featured for India in a T20I in July 2024 against Sri Lanka, has “given his consent” to represent the defending champions in the country’s premier domestic T20 competition.

“He has made himself available for the SMAT campaign in the super league,” a top Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz on Sunday (December 7).

Mumbai, led by Shardul Thakur in SMAT 2025, secured their berth in the Super League on Saturday afternoon. The reigning champions have claimed five wins from their six Elite Group A fixtures so far. They will wrap up their group stage schedule on Monday (December 8) with a match against Odisha.

Mumbai Squad Announced Without Surya, Dube And Mhatre

Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Ayush Mhatre will miss Mumbai’s Super League matches in SMAT 2025. Surya and Dube are set to represent India in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, beginning December 9 in Cuttack, while 18-year-old Mhatre, the tournament’s leading run-scorer with two centuries to his name, will join the India U19 squad in Dubai for the U19 Asia Cup.

Mhatre has also been named captain for the eight-team tournament, which is scheduled to start on December 12.

Will Rohit Represent Mumbai?

Rohit Sharma, who retired from T20Is on June 29, 2024, is also expected to feature for Mumbai in SMAT 2025. According to a report by the Times of India on Thursday, the former India captain has expressed his interest in playing for the Mumbai side in the upcoming round of the tournament.

Rohit, India’s leading run-scorer in T20Is, last appeared in a T20 match on June 1, 2025, representing Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
