Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni opened up about a touching experience he had with teenage player Vaibhav Suryavanshi. When CRICKET broke the news about the match, I was amazed to see Vaibhav pay Dhoni a double blessing as he touched Dhoni’s feet twice after scoring 57 runs.
There were two incidents, one during the post-match handshake and another by the team’s dressing room. Dhoni was asked during the post-match presentation after CSK’s final game about the mood the young batter set.
MS Dhoni’s remarks on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s post-match gesture:
Suryavanshi touched Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s feet during the traditional handshake and quick conversation that took place after the game. Later, close to the team’s dressing room, the young batter went up to the CSK skipper once again and touched his feet respectfully before leaving.
“How does it feel when someone like Vaibhav Suryavanshi meets you and touches your feet?” Harsha Bhogle questioned him during the post-match presentation.
Dhoni said, “Well, definitely, you feel old,” with a smile.
“Not to forget I have Andre (Siddharth) in my team. I sit on the last seat and he sits next to me. Was just having a chat and I asked him how how are you. He is exactly 25 years younger than me, that makes me feel I am seriously old,” he added.
In their final league match of the current IPL season, CSK defeated GT by 83 runs. Due to the outcome, GT lost a fantastic chance to be in the top two and will now need to rely on other outcomes. Since CSK finished the season in last place for the first time in IPL history, the victory was bittersweet for them.
