Hitting a double century in Twenty20 cricket is still an unachievable dream. However, it is not at all impossible with the game favouring the batters with small grounds and batting-friendly wickets. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has picked three candidates who can achieve the impossible in the shortest format of the game.
Meanwhile, striking a double century was also a difficult task in the ODIs. But once batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar broke the barries in 2010, many have achieved the feat. The likes of Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman have scored double centuries in the 50-over format since then.
As far as T20 is concerned, West Indies legend Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest score in a T20. He played a swashbuckling knock of 175 not out against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League. In international cricket, Australia's Aaron Finch holds the record for his 172-run knock against Zimbabwe.

As the cricketing world waits for the first batsman to score a double century, Yuvraj Singh has picked his three candidates who can register the landmark. Yuvraj, who announced his retirement in 2019 recently took part in Bushfire Cricket Bash to raise money for the Bushfire victims in Australia.
“It (T20 double ton) is very tough I feel,” Yuvraj Singh told Sport360. “But it is not impossible I would say. With the way the game of cricket is going these days, I feel nothing is impossible. So let us wait and hope for the best.
“Well Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers (South Africa) have retired from international cricket, oh wait, Gayle is still playing I forgot. In my eyes, these were the two guys who could have scored a double hundred in T20I cricket. Rohit Sharma would be the third guy I can think of when it comes to a double T20 ton,” added Yuvraj Singh.
