Rinku Singh delivered a flawless conclusion for India against Zimbabwe in the second T20I at Harare Sports Club on Sunday, July 7th. The southpaw hammered an undefeated 48 runs from 22 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 218.18, including five sixes and two boundaries. The standout moment of his innings occurred when he smashed a colossal 104-meter six off Blessing Muzarabani.

This pivotal shot unfolded during the penultimate over of India’s innings. Muzarabani sent down a length delivery which Rinku lofted over long-off for a mammoth six that sailed beyond the stadium confines. Sharing the video on X, the official broadcaster Sony Liv stated:

“Has anyone from space said 6? Rinku has deposited one into the orbit.”

During the initial match of the series in opposition to Zimbabwe, Rinku Singh was dismissed for zero. Thus, the left-hander increased a noteworthy T20I record, giving 408 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 178.76, which includes two half-centuries.

Rinku Singh concluded India’s innings effectively following Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s batting brilliance. Abhishek Sharma smashed his first T20I century, scoring 100 runs from 47 balls, including eight sixes and seven boundaries.

Gaikwad also contributed an unbeaten 77 off 47 deliveries, featuring one six and 11 boundaries. Together, they shared a 137-run partnership for the second wicket. India ultimately posted a total of 234/2 after 20 overs.

Zimbabwe appeared lost in their chase, currently standing at 98-7 after 14.2 overs. In the series opener, Zimbabwe, led by Sikandar Raza, clinched victory by defending a total of 115 runs.

Shubman Gill along with his team now seems confident to align the series at 1-1 in advance of the third T20I, planned for July 10 at the same location. Remarkably, the champions of the 2024 T20 World Cup Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will merge the team for the final three T20Is.
