VIDEO: Ben Foakes controversial stumping to dismiss Andy Balbirnie

England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes produced a controversial stumping in a one-off One Day International against Ireland played on 3rd May at Dublin. In a rain-curtailed match which was reduced to 45 overs a side, England bowlers restricted Ireland to 198 in 43.1 overs.

The incident happened in the 25th over as Joe Denly dismissed Balbirine with a quick stumping from Ben Foakes. Foakes was quick with his stumping as Balbirine lifted his leg up and the ball was a wide ball. Paul Stirling scored 33, Adair 32, Dockrell 24 and Balbirnie scored 29. It was an amazing bowling performance by England bowlers with Tom Curran and Liam Plunkett the wicket-takers.

Chasing the target of 199 runs to win, England were reduced to 101 for 6. Ben Foakes and Tom Curran steadied the innings with an unbeaten 98 runs for the 7th wicket. David Malan and James Vince added 34 runs for opening wicket. After the fall of James Vince wicket, Ireland picked the wickets of David Malan, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Joe Denly and David Willey.

Foakes playing his maiden ODI match remained not out on 61 and Tom Curran 47 not out helped England register a 4 wicket win with 18 balls to spare. England will look to take the confidence ahead in the 5 matches One day international series against Pakistan starting from 8th May.
