The current skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team and also one of the most influential figures in the game of cricket. Virat Kohli feels it is tough to recreate the magic by playing the game behind doors. However, he acknowledged that there is a possibility of sport resuming in the post-COVID-19 world without fans at stadiums.

Highlighting the impact of a live audience, Kohli reckons a cricket match without a crowd is not the same, but if the game is to have a restart, playing inside closed doors seems the way forward.

Emotions are very difficult to recreate – Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli may not fully endorse the idea of cricket behind closed doors but he doesn’t entirely rule it out either. According to the Indian skipper, the game would be played with great intensity and players would put in their best efforts even while playing behind closed doors.

“It’s quite a possible situation, it might happen, I honestly don’t know how everyone is going to take that because we all are used to playing in front of so many passionate fans,” Kohli said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.”

”I know it will be played at a very good intensity but that feeling of the crowd connecting with the players and the tension of the game where everyone goes through it in the stadium. Those emotions are very difficult to recreate,” Kohli added.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the global sporting calendar to a grinding halt. Among other things, the sport has been hit badly by the novel coronavirus outbreak. Even as some countries are looking at ways to resume sport, playing without fans at stadiums has been a common thread that has dominated the discussions.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has been indefinitely postponed and there are doubts over the T20 World Cup in Australia in October due to the coronavirus outbreak.
