Pakistan stylish left-handed batsman Saeed Anwar made his ODI debut against West Indies on 1st January 1989. He played a total of 287 ODI matches and scored 8824 runs with an average of 45.19, with 30 centuries and 51 half centuries.

West Indies posted 260 for 9 in 50 overs. Chasing the target of 261 to win, while opening the innings Saeed Anwar scored 131 off 141 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets with 1 over to spare. Saeed Anwar was named as man of the match.

His 3rd successive century came in the 5th match of Pepsi Champions Trophy match against Sri Lanka played at Sharjah on 2nd November 1993. Sri Lanka scored 270 for 6 in 50 overs. Chasing the target of 271 to win, Saeed Anwar scored a quick fire 111 off 104 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Pakistan won the match by 2 wickets. For his 111, Saeed Anwar was named as man of the match.
