The final of the 2022 T20 World Cup is all set to take place between England and Pakistan on Sunday, November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced the revised playing conditions for the mega-clash. Rain threat is looming over the final, with weather forecasts suggesting chances of rain.

The ICC has kept a reserve day for the final, in case, the match gets spoiled by rain. Revising the conditions, keeping in mind the rain threat, the ICC has now increased the provision for the additional playing time on reserve day to four hours. The ICC stated in an official release,

“The Event Technical Committee (ETC) has increased the provision of additional playing time on the reserve day to four hours from the original provision of two hours (clause 13.7.3 of the Playing Conditions), in case more time is required to complete the match and get a result.”

10 overs per side required to constitute the final match

The International Cricket Council further added, that 10 overs are required to be bowled per side, to constitute a match in the knockout stage. There will be 30 minutes of extra time available for the match to be completed on Sunday, with additional four hours on Monday. In case, the scores are tied at the end of the match, a Super Oval will be played. However, if Super Over is not possible due to the weather conditions, Pakistan and England will be declared as joint winners. The release stated,

“It may be noted that 10 overs per side are required to constitute a match in the knockout stage and every effort will be taken to complete the match on the scheduled match day, with any necessary reduction of overs taking place.”

“Only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on Sunday will the match go into the reserve day. Play on the reserve day will begin at 15h00 (9:30 AM IST) and would be a continuation of play from the scheduled match day,” it added.
