He may be just 20 years old but Devdutt Padikkal is a sure shot future RCB captain. Much like Kohli, RCB acquired Padikkal at a very young age keeping one eye on the future. Padikkal had a sensational first season for RCB and was named the emerging player of the tournament.

The exciting batsman is a star in the making and potentially the future of RCB. Hypothetically if RCB names Padkikkal as skipper this will be a very bold move but certainly a step in the right direction.

Meanwhile, RCB has always backed Kohli as skipper regardless of the result. However, in the last few years, Kohli’s batting has been hampered with RCB still to win that elusive IPL trophy. Hence the franchise might decide to release Kohli of the captaincy pressure and he can then entirely focus on his batting.
