Team India sealed the three-match T20I series against Ireland with an emphatic win in the second match on Sunday, August 20 at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. They defeated the hosts by 33 runs to take an unassailable lead in the series. Rinku Singh was the star performer for the visitors in the match.

Batting first, Team India put on 185 runs on the board. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson crafted brilliant knocks. Gaikwad scored 58 runs, while Sanju Samson played a fine hand of 40 runs. However, it was Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube’s stand of 55 runs that took India to a good score. Rinku slammed 38 runs, while Dube stayed unbeaten with a 16-ball 22-run knock.

In response, India restricted Ireland to 152 runs in 20 overs at the loss of eight wickets. Andrew Balbirnie kept them in the hunt, despite wickets falling from the other end. However, his effort wasn’t enough. Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each in the match. There were several records broken during the game.

Let’s take a look at three records that were broken during India vs Ireland’s second T20I.

1. Joint-most maiden overs in T20Is for India

Jasprit Bumrah has made a terrific comeback to International cricket in the ongoing series against Ireland. He was out of action for several months, however, he looks in a good rhythm on his comeback. He won the Player of the Match award in the first T20I, which India won by two runs on D/Ls.

The speedster continued his brilliance in the second T20I as well. He finished the match with bowling figures of 2/15 in four overs, with one maiden over. This takes the tally of maiden overs bowled by Bumrah in T20Is to 10. He is now the joint-holder of the record for most maiden overs in T20Is by an Indian, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

2. Most Ducks

While Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah had a good outing in the second T20I, Ireland skipper Paul Stirling earned an unwanted record for himself. He was dismissed for a duck by Prasidh Krishna in the match. Paul Stirling has a good T20I record, scoring 3408 runs in 131 matches.

However, he has 13 ducks to his name for Ireland in the format. With his latest duck in the second T20I, he now holds the record for most ducks by a player in the history of T20Is.

3. Second-fastest Indian bowler to complete 50 T20I wickets

Arshdeep Singh has had a good T20I career for Team India so far. He bowled well in the second T20I against Ireland, powering his team to a 33-run win. The pacer took a wicket, conceding 29 runs at an economy rate of 7.2. He has taken two wickets in the series at an average of 32. With this, he breached the 50-wicket landmark in T20 cricket.

The Indian pacer has taken 50 wickets in 33 matches at an average of 18.98 and an economy rate of 8.49. He is now the second-fastest Indian bowler to get to 50 T20I wickets. Kuldeep Yadav tops the list taking 50 wickets in 29 innings.
