The BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma made some shocking revelations in the sting operation done by Zee News. His comments have raised several questions about the selection process of the Indian Cricket Team.

During the sting operation, Sharma talked about the controversy involving unknown information between Virat Kohl and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in late 2021. He has talked about the players taking injections to gain fitness and plays many matches as possible.

Rohit versus Virat Kohli captaincy

Virat Kohli led India to famous wins across all formats especially in overseas conditions during Test matches. Before the T20 World Cup in 2021, he decided to step down from captaincy in T20Is after the tournament ended. The BCCI decided to remove him from the ODI captaincy ahead of the series against South Africa in South Africa.

Rohit Sharma was appointed as the new ODI captain in the press release. During the sting operation, Chetan Sharma told that Sourav Ganguly had no preference for Rohit Sharma but the former BCCI president was not a fan of Virat Kohli.

It sent shockwaves as India was whitewashed by B side South Africa 0-3 in the ODI series. India also lost the Test series 1-2 after winning the first Test at Centurion.

The Board of Cricket Control of India replaced Virat Kohli as the ODI captain in 2021, despite Kohli never expressing any desire to step down from captainship. Before going to South Africa, Kohli told that BCCI only informed him half an hour before sacking Kohli.

Chetan Sharma told the about the details in the meeting. Kohli thought that he lost captaincy because of BCCI President. There were 9 people during the video conference and Kohli did not hear as there were 9 people including me and all other selectors. It was disappointing that Kohli the most successful captain for India had to step down from captaincy.

The rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

There were certain reports that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had a rift between them during the 2019 World Cup played in England. Both are the pillars of Indian Cricket showing their abilities to World Cricket.

Chetan Sharma told in his sting operation that Indian players take injections to be in full physical fitness even if they are not fit enough to play. He told that these drugs contain that they are not traceable in doping Tests and are unknown to team management.

The Indian players are ready to play even if they are 80 percent fit. Chetan Sharma also told that they don’t take painkillers as they would hold in doping Tests.

Players like Hardik Pandya, Rohit, and others would come to his home

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya would visit Chetan Sharma at his home. Chetan Sharma said that Hardik Pandya was sleeping on my sofa that day and talking about players’ futures. Both of them have done the country proud with lovely performances in recent times.

Chetan Sharma told me that Hardik Pandya is the future of India and told Hardik to come to my house recently. Rohit Sharma led India to a series whitewash over Sri Lanka and New Zealand becoming the number 1 ranked ODI side.

Hardik Pandya was appointed the T20I captain and won the T20I series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand by 2-1 respectively.
